found this and cant remember what its for .....it loaded 9 & 40 and also ejected no problem by hand

59XX 15d magazine. The orange follower came along after the standard 14rd 59XX magazine was revised to hold 15rds, and the 15rd witness hole was added to the L/side of the mag tube.

FWIW, there were at least a couple revisions of the orange follower that I saw. These pics show some of the subtle differences.




There may have been more, but those are the only orange followers I have for the double stack 3rd gen 9 mags.

Yes, fit/function is flawless. They will work in all S&W double stack 9mm’s. (1st, 2nd, and 3rd Gens.)

But it is the same mag right? Just a different follower. If you swap out to the modern follower, the 14 round mags hold 15.
