3rd Generation collection
Just picked up my new 5906...so my collection is complete...well at least for now.
Top left is my 645 transitional and below it is a 4516. Top right is the new 5906 and below it's little brother...the 6906.

Nice...but I don't think it will stop there especially with all the police trade-ins at good prices. They are hard to resist.

Yes sir deanodog, you got that right! Starting a 3rd gen collection is like eating potato chips. Betcha ya can't get just one. Fifteen months ago I had one. Then I joined the forum and now I have... more than I can handle with both hands.

Haven't you heard that S&W Semi-autos are junk? Just send that terrible collection there to me to take it off your hands. Really you have a nice start there. Oh by the way, once you catch the 3rd gen bug, you can never have enough of these great pistols.

Nice pics, I need to add about a half-dozen more to my 6906 & 5906 before I feel like "complete" is near. 4006 is next, then a CS45.

It wasn't long ago that I didn't know what a 3rd Generation S&W was.
Now, we're budding 3rd Generation aficionado's with 3 in the collection: 3913LS & 3913NL, 4563TSW. A nice 4566 is on my wish list. And I haven't even started in my favorite caliber, the 40 S&W.

Twins arrived today
It didn't take long after the wife bought her 3913 Lady Smith for me to get the 3rd Generation bug.
First on my wish list was a 3913NL. Not only do I like the cool lines of the 3913LS & NL better than the regular 3913, this will let us share holsters. I bought one from the original owner, a couple in Florida. The wife bought it for herself, but then the husband carried it undercover for a number of years in Miami. Wouldn't it be interesting if if could talk? The finish shows evidence of being carried a lot, but I bought it to be a range & training pistol for newbies, so there's no need for it to be pristine.
Next on the wish list was a 4563. It replaces my Dan Wesson CCO as my 45 CCW. I found a 4563TSW that's a beaut - the finish is like new every where. What tops it off is that it's got a very smooth trigger. I'm 99% positive that it's had a trigger job which is a nice bonus.
While we were at the FFL picking up the two S&W's we also picked up a new DiamondBack DB380. Seems like a decent pocket 380 -feels much better in the hand than the other pocket 380s, except for the Sig P238. Quite a few accessories for it at the DB web site ranging from Trijicon night sights to a comp barrel. It will be interesting to see how well it works.

Nice collection Denver Dick. Like a fool I sold my 5906, but two weeks later I stumbled onto a 4566 TSW. Hard to believe that For less money than the latest, greatest plastic wonder gun you can have one of these beauties. I wouldn't mind adding a 6906 to my collection for carry purposes.

3rd gen envy
After looking at the great pics above, I have 3rd gen envy. Being in CA I am limited to what I can get my hands on unless they are already in the state. Unfortunately, not many people get rid of a 3rd gen after they have them. My current collection is limited to 2 with a 3rd that should be mailed early next week. I have a 5905 and a 908S that I carry almost daily. My newest addition is a CS9 with the ambi safety that will take the place of my 908S on my side. I will post pics after it arrives and gets out of the required 10 day jail. Thanks for the pictures everyone, they look great.

As a fellow Californian, I hear you.
My brother and I were the original owners of my 4566, 4516-1 and 4013. The rest were purchased after my interest in 3rd generations was renewed in early 2007. I believe the primary reason for the relatively rapid growth of my collection was due to the recession. Except for the three mentioned above, all the pistols in my earlier posting were puchased on consignment between March 2007 and June 2009. In fact, most were puchased during 2007 and 2008. I think guys were just really strapped for cash and had to put some nice stuff up for sale, many cases at some very, very good prices. As an example, in January 2008, I picked up a 3913 (second from the left in the top row of photo above) in 99% condition with factory night sights, box, the two original magazines plus one extra - all for $350. . . in Southern California!
Although I sold the 3rd generations marked as sold in the photos above during 2010-11, I didn't buy any during that period of time. In fact, during the past two years I haven't seen all that many in the condition I like (98% or better) come up for sale at the gun stores and shows I frequent.
It seems my renewed interest just happen to coincide with the depths of the recession. I think that if I was trying to build this collection now with all the restrictions in California, it would take a long, long time and cost a lot more.
FWIW
