Approximate value of BNIB Unfired 39-2 semi-auto?
I may have an opportunity to purchase an never been fire, brand new in box S&W 39-2. No price has been discussed yet and the deal is even less than tentative. That said, I wanted to seek some expert advice when and if the negotiations start as to the approximate value of this pistol.
As of now, I don't know the MFG date or much more. The deal would take place in California which also, and unfortunately, adds a little bit of a premium since people here profiteer from selling off-roster handguns.
Your thoughts on value based on this limited info is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I concur. For true "new unfired in original box with all papers et al", my best local shop for such collectible guns would easily put that gun at $599.99 or greater. I think that GB completed sales would bear that out as well.

I agree, plus you'll be getting a whole lot of 9 mm for the money. Best of luck and hope it works out.

We had a gun show this weekend here in the Springfield area... I spotted a blued 39-2 in what I would consider rough condition, 65% maybe? The price tag was $525 for the gun only! Redicilous........ but these fine pistols are starting to demand a decent amount of cash.

See if they'll go $500 for it, maybe $550.
Any more than that, and it's not a good deal for you.
One thing to keep in mind, if you are buying an older NIB gun, and you intend to use it, and carry it, you are going to pay a premium that you may not want to pay, especially when you can get a better deal on one that had been shot and carried a little bit.
I will say this, the 39-2 and the next generation 439 are great little guns. They carry real nice, OWB or IWB, they don't snag and aren't heavy. They feel amazing in your hand, like 1911 or CZ amazing.
Good luck.

Hmmm, here in CA ehhh. A NIB 39 will bring $600 plus or minus. But if you offer lower they will counter with something higher so be careful.
Just kidding, Good Luck.

Well,I'm in SC,which is a much more gun friendly state than the one you are in. Keeping that in mind,I just recently purchased a NIB nickel 39-2 for $500 OTD. I would have paid more. IMO,it is the best lookin' bottom feeder Smith has ever produced, bar none!
