model 39-2 rear sight
HI
I have a model 39-2 and I need advice on the adjustable rear sight. It has a side screw for wind age but is there a adjustment for elevation? It sure looks like there is a screw or something on the bottom. Thanks

There were several different sites, the original one was adjustable for windage only, I have seen 2 different factory optional replacement sites that are adjustable for windage and yardage as well as 2 after market versions.
Post a pic and it will be easier to figure out which one you have.

Until we see a picture, the simple odds are that you have the same sight that most of the 39-2 pistols came with: adjustable for windage only
If you can "see" something under the rear sight, you are likely seeing a spring/plunger for the magazine disconnect safety.
As said above, some elevation adjustable sights were available -- I'm not sure if a 39-2 ever shipped with them, or if it was only an option after the fact.

There was a factory sight for elv. and wind. Same footprint as original.
Bought a few last year on the Form for $35 apiece. Now? Dont know.
They were in a pac with a Factory part number. Best

No picture, no idea!
If it is the standard "lollipop" sight is is adjustable for windage only. Elevation was by changing the rear sight slide for one with a different height. This wasn't often done. And. for some reason, the 1st generation sight uses a windage screw and slide that are a different width than either a J-frame or K, N-frame sight!
"It looks like there is a screw or something on the bottom" No idea what you think you are seeing
