Default M-39 Any idea when it was made?
Hey ya'll! I hope everyone is off to a good start for 2012. A buddy of mine has an old M39 and was curious as to how old it is. I checked the 3rd edition Standard Catalog of S&W and all I could find was between 1957 and 1971.

The serial number range is 1075**. Anyone out there have one in similar range or any guesses as to the shipped date? I figured this one would not show up in Smith Customer Service records like the more modern weapons do.

It is probably from 1969.

Picked this one up back in 82-83 on a call. Guy didn't feel safe with it in the house.........

I was more than glad to take it off his hands to make him feel safe! One of my favorite pistols!
