IS A SW1911PD SCANDIUM OR ALUMINUM?
Hello, I got a killer deal on a sw1911pd commander light weight, anyone know whether it’s scandium or aluminum, looks like black paint for a coating. Thanks for any info!

It's both. More correctly, I believe the Scandium alloy that S&W uses consists of Aluminum, Lithium, Magnesium, Scandium, and Titanium.

Mr. Internet is your friend (sometimes ):
ARCHIVE: Model SW1911PD | Smith & Wesson
As noted above, the frame is mostly aluminum with literally trace amounts of scandium.

Just trace amount of scandium added to the alloy to improve durability. Touting it is just the usual snake oil marketing ploy. Fantastic pistol by the way...see my avatar.
