Very nice looking. Interesting 645.
I'm very curious. Whats the reliability like with that much of the slide cutaway? Regards 18DAI

Reliability is not an issue at all, I modified the slide weight, as to keep the balance back into the hand, and used Wolfe recoil and firing pin springs. To date approximately 1500 rounds fired and no malfunctions or stress problems. Wolfe mag springs also used.

The arched mainspring housing was made for me by ( deceased ) Mr. Tom Baldus of Michigan. He had an injection moulding business and supplied me with them when I was in business. I believe the material used had a teflon base, they are about indistructable.

Very well done carry piece, I'd carry that any time of the day or night ! Is the single side safety and slide stop after market ? If so, do you know the manufacturer ?

More details please!
What coating is on the frame? Who made those beautiful grips? Who cut the slide for the Novaks sights? Did you do all this work yourself? Great job if so. Regards 18DAI

All of the work was done by me accept for the checkering of the stocks. The decocker is a modified S&W 745 safety. The slide stop is factory, that I added on to, and remachined and polished, it is SS. The trigger and semi bobbed hammer are SS blackend. Finish is W.E. Birdsong

Had to take another look at your 645. What decocker and magazine release button are those ? What is the wear factor of the finish and how long ago did you have the reciever and barrel done? Do you have any of those mainspring housings available ?

Beautiful piece. You might be able to tell me: is it possible to have a smith take up some of the trigger slack on a 645 in SA?
Thanks a bunch.

You can reduce the take up on the 645 in the SA mode. I mention this in " Rebirth of a Mdl.59 " thread I posted, when I was asked the # 6 sears. If more info is needed feel free to Email me.

I had the frame, small parts, and barrel done in 1990. I've only carried it in a lined Shoulder holster ( early De Santis
) . The Single side safety / decocker is a reshaped S&W M-745 and Oversize mag release button is M-745.

Thanks Nyteman. I'll have someone local take a look at it and if he's unfamiliar I'll read your post to him! Love this gun. The weight makes recoil very light and feels great in my hands. I'll let you know how it turns out.
