A LPS has a "new" condition 639, fixed sights, rounded trigger guard, no box-no papers I could fine nothing wrong with gun except the price... $700+. What would be a fair price for this shooter. The SCSW says NIB is $500 but that seems a bit outdated in the DFW area.
Thanks for your input.

I've owned the 39, 39-2, 539,639,3906,3913,etc and am obviously a real fan of the whole 39 series, but that is just Way too much, IMHO. And not even the original box and papers, etc...
For some reason people seem to be pretty proud of 639's right now, and I don't know why. They are great guns, but that price sounds high to me.
I got mine several years ago. Traded a Ruger KP89 straight across for it. IIRC I only had $275 invested in the Ruger. I have no doubt that I got the better part of the deal.
in Excellent condition with a box and 2 magazines. Oddly enough it appears to be the same 639 that I traded off in 1987, with cash, for a couple of Honda 3 wheelers. Still had the brown paper wrapping, and 1 magazine in plastic. One scratch I put there myself 25 years ago. The guy I bought it from had bought it a few years back at a gun show and now was getting rid of 9mm to concentrate on .223 and .45. I had always kicked myself for getting rid of it because it's a fine all stainless pistol, not like the later models with the lower out of alloy.
I would not pay 700 bucks for a 639. Way too much money. Google them on the internet and you can find one about 450 ro 500 somewhere, in execellent condition.
