First S&W bottom feeder... NIB 4536
Found this at my local enabler. It's been on layaway for quite awhile but I finally brought it home. I'll still be eating Ramen noodles for a looooong time. Mighta bought it "too soon" but where else ya gonna find an all SS compact .45 without all the manual safety nonsense? The mag disco is still a PITA tho.
It was a tough choice between this and a NIB 4596 sitting next to it but in the end I decided I really wanted the compact frame & frame mounted decocker. If we ever get "shall issue" in SanDawg this is gonna be the guy.
Now I have to figure out how to make a set of arched backstrap grips for it. NOBODY makes grips for the 4536.

I too have a 4536. Excellent pics. I only wish for adj sights. Note that standard Novaks don't work. They are an oddball(?) dovetail.
Here is a pic of my 4536 (top), along with 2 40's (4014 & 4053).

Interesting configuration, and rarely seen. Looks like more Ramen is in your future to pay for all the ammo you're going to burn through.

Now that's a nice one. Congrats. I am going to have to keep my eye out for one of those as well.

YIKES! That's a steal. Prices in Kalifornistan are outrageous because there's virtually zero competition from the internet or pawn shops. ALL our transactions except C&R must go through an FFL.
Just got a new magazine in the mail. I guess it's the latest & greatest with black follower. BOY! The spring in the late model is WAY stiffer than the yellow follwer models.
Still haven't been able to bring myself to shoot the 20YO BNIB 4536. I really need to get out there & gitter dirty. I'm in real danger of becoming a "collector."

There are several of us here that have a 4536, but that is a function of the Smithcentric nature of this board. Research has turned up an estimate of ~ 600 pistols produced. I've never gotten mine lettered, but the estimated number is believable to me. If correct, this is very nearly as limited production a collector piece as the great 1046, but far less well known among even Smith fans.
For me, the frame mounted decockers rock. I like them better than slide mounted ones and the DA only versions. Personally, I wouldn't be afraid to shoot and enjoy it. This is an awesome carry piece. The short beavertail, compact frame and lack of saftey levers make it a dream to carry. Like the 4516, these are some of the best and most reliable short barrel 45s ever produced. Until you actually shoot it, you'll never know what a pleasure it is to shoot.

I agree these are fun to shoot but they sure are heavy compared to the newer polymer guns. I guess you could always use it as hammer when you run out of ammo. Great find!
