Just picked up a 945-1 (170173: 5"2-tone) & have a couple questions.
Mine has Wilson Combat sights & card board box with a soft black nylon Performance Center zipper pouch in lieu of Bo-Mars & locking aluminum case (as "THE" book suggests).... was this due to it being a later mfg gun? The fired case envelope indicates mid 2005 mfg. Were all the "re-issueguns" from '05 sent with the same?
And magazines: I have maybe (8) 645 mags I picked up as police surplus years ago. The only difference I can see is the location of the mag release slot. I have access to a mill. If I mill a second mag release slot in the correct location, will there be any other problems using those mags? Any other frugal people done this?
Yes, you can mill the extra slot and not have any grief. That's what the PC does and then marks them PC.
Just make sure they ARE in the right location.
If you do cut the extra slots it does make them harder to use in the 645/4500 guns because they catch on the first slot, but they'll still work. Most of the later 945/952 have the Wilson sight, Bomar ceased in 2007.
