What's your most accurate S&W auto?
Hello,
The thread title sums it up...I have a 5906, 4506, 639, 659 and it's a horse race for accuracy between the 4506 and the 659.
If the 659's sights suited me better-the adjustable rear sights on the 2nd Gens are harder for me to use than the three-dot sights of the 3rd Gens-I think the 659 would be the most accurate out of my small collection.
That 659 flat out shoots! Great trigger reset too, which helps a fair bit.
Which one puts them in the 10 ring for you folks?
Best,
Heekma

I don't have pics but my new 4506 tore the 10 ring out of the target the 1st time I took it out Monday. That's why I bought it. My 5906 is great too but the 4506 gets the prize. (Except for my Ruger Mark III .22) but that is a target pistol.

I have a 908, a 910, two 457's, a 1076. But hands down the most accurate is either of my 39-2's. Maybe because they just fit my hand perfectly.
You limited it to S&W's, so my Ruger 22 isn't eligible. That thing is unreal, even with me using it.

39-2, hands down. 5903 close second.
Oh wait, my M&P .40 is my MOST accurate S&W semi-auto, but since we were in this section of the forum I thought we were talking about steel guns.

My 4506-1, but in all fairness I have had it a long time. So is it the most accurate or is the 3rd Gen I am the most familiar with? Can't say for sure.

My 5" 1911 without a doubt. I shoot it better than the 4.25" 1911 or either my 6904 or 6906. Next would be my .380 PPK/S. They all shoot fine but that 5" just seems to find the center no matter what! I admit I need more work with the 6904 and 6906 as I haven't shot them as much.

I wholeheartedly agree on this choice. Although I don't actually own it, my friends 952 delivers STUNNING accuracy with of all things CCI Blazer ammo!

For me its a toss up between my PC Shorty 45 MKII and my 4506-1 (dash 3).
Both will shoot a quater size cloverleaf at 15 yards. Both have the excellent triggers that S&W use to make. Regards 18DAI

In 22 my old Model 46. I centerfire it's a tossup between my 52-1 and 945PC with 5 inch bbl.

Model 41, without a doubt. Just wish it wasn't so damned finicky. The other one that seems to work best for me is my 3906, closely followed by my 539. Still, I'd love to have a 952.

The SW1911-proved itself as a potential tack driver if I do my job.

My Model 52-2 is probably my most accurate centerfire S&W, however, when it comes to rimfires, I would have to be having a really good day to have either of my M41s shoot a 7 round group as small as this one that I shot with Allen-frame's old M317.

My 1911 has been my S&W addiction since I got it, replacing the role once held by my 5906. I am a terrible shot, but this is the most confidence inspiring handgun I have shot.
My first magazine right out the box at 10 yards.
My 3rd magazine
Heck even my father who had never shot a 1911 or semi-auto for that matter did pretty well

Probably a toss up. I used to say the model 52 but the 845 is amazingly accurate as well.

Currently it is my 4006. In the past, it was my Model 41 target .22 lr pistol...by far the most accurate handgun I have ever shot.

Since I only have one Smith & Wesson bottom feeder my most accurate semi would be that one, an M&P45. But it is nowhere near as accurate as some that I have had the pleasure of shooting. I think the most accurate I have ever experienced is a Model 52, it simply blew me away with its accuracy. I would be hard pressed to better it shooting my Model 14.

I'll have to give the nod to the 4506-1.
I hope all of those targets are off a rest, otherwise I need a lot more practice.....lol

For me the S&W 1006 with adjustible sights and quality handloads have provided me very good accuracy, at times I have hit several 4" targets out to 130 yards! Some of the other 10xx series pistols have been good close inside of 50yards but their sights are not as defined as the 1006 with its target sights.
However my very best pistol shot was with my S&W Model 29, 44 mag iron target sights, taking a deer at 180 yards thru its heart.
