6906/5904 swap around
I think I have seen this before, but couldn't find anthing so am asking the experts. I just purchased a 6906. I have a 5904. I swapped slides around, giving me a bitone 4 inch gun with compact grip, or a 3.5 inch gun with a full size grip. Everything functions like it should in dry fire mode. Am going today to range, and plan on shooting them each way. Just checking to make sure, this will work before I do. Any concerns or no, I shouldn't do it?
Thanks guys.

I have shot these swaps many, many times. I have never experienced any failures or unsafe situations with them. Enjoy!

Thanks
I really like bi-tone guns, but I am having a tough time deciding which one I like best LOL

Interesting. I have a 6904 and a 6906...never thought of swapping the slides. Don't know why I didn't think of it! A friend has my 6906 right now but when I get it back I will give it a go! I like the bi-tone 1911Sc so who knows?
What about the compatibility of revolvers? Not too fond of the Pinto's but just curious if the K cylinders could be safely swapped...no barrel swap of course so wouldn't be a Pinto anyway...probably would just look like a pieced together K frame.

Revolvers would be tougher. Cylinders are hand-fit, as are several other parts.
I have swapped 4566 slide onto a 4516 frame and vice versa many times, and a 915 slide onto a 6906 frame and vice versa. I have shot them all.

I have a 5943 with a 6946 slide (home made SSV). They work perfectly together.

Range
Well, went to the range. All shot fine, the 5904 frame, with 6906 slide had the hardest trigger. Now, the 6906 compact frame, under the 5904 slide (which has night sights) was one sweet combo. Super smooth trigger, great balance, exact point of aim with 124 grain bullets. I really like this setup, and may even leave it for a while. I was very pleased with the 6906 factory though too. Should have bought one a long time ago. I like the single stacks, but I beleive this may work better for me than the 3913 did.
