Default Found a mint 459 today!

I've had many 59 series pistols but never could find a 459 that wasn't ragged out/wearing Pachmeyers. Well today I found a mint one, looks like it was fired once, cleaned and put away for many years. I took it to the range earlier and it ran flawlessly and was super accurate. I'm really happy about this one!!

THAT is one fine looking 2nd gen pistol. I love it when someone finds an older S&W that was tucked away all this time and liberates it.

I've found a few myself and know how you feel... ain't it great?

Congrats!

Congratulations! Your 459 looks like what I have. Fixed sights, Square trigger guard. I don't doubt your claim on it's accuracy and reliability. Check our my earlier thread when I took it to the a week ago.

Indeed I did check out ur thread! Some dislike the squared trigger guard but not I, gives the pistol a whole new look vs the rounded.

I don't dislike the squared trigger guard, i have one on my 5903, but it is harder to find holsters for such models.

It sure is, but I've found 99% of the time my holsters for my Sig 226 will fit the squared trigg guard SW's.

She is a peach for sure. I had a 459 in nickel at one time. I loved how it shot and handled...just couldn't ever get used to having a "pimp" gun, lol. Anyway, it is down the road and most of my Smith are of the blued variety. It is also one of the guns that convinced me I wanted the lighter frame for my full sized 9. Anyway, that is a fantastic gun. You will love it.

I have collected S&W semi autos for a few years now. My first one was a 459 police trade in (from another country). I replaced all the springs in the gun. I sold my 5906 and kept the 459. The 459 was more reliable, but not quite as accurate. The 459 with the straight grip, and bigger sights, and 100% reliable, is the gun that feels the best in my hand and is my first choice for home defense. My CS9 is for concealed carry, but I picked the 459 above my 5906, and 4506 for home defense. I sold the 5906 and 4506, and kept the 459. Also I still have the model 39 that my Dad carried in the 80's when he was a Sherrif. I have chosen the 459 above my full sized 3rd generation S&W autos.
