My first Smith, a SW 99
Picked this up late last week for 355 OTD. It doesn't look to have been used all that much. I've been wanting something different from my P89DC and this seemed to be the ticket. It feels good in my hands and I can't wait to get it out to try it out. I feel like I got a pretty good deal on it.
Is there anyone that could give me an idea of when this was made? Serial # SAA0216

I can't give you any details other than you have yourself an excellent handgun there. I had one and traded it (doh) away without thinking. Now they are few and far between. I would say $355 out the door is definitely a good price. Congrats!

Congratulations on a nice SW99. These are great pistols and very accurate for the barrel length. What is great about these pistols is that they had features that everyone else is copying today. Between the interchangeable backstraps and the interchangeable front sights you can really customize the pistol to your shooting grip and style.
Enjoy your new pistol.

I have one in .40, and find it a very good shooter! A lot nicer than brand G! Dale

I have 3 of the 99's. A 45, a full size 40 and the compact 40. All great guns. Does yours have the fired casing with it? If so, that should have the date it was test fired..which will give you an approximate date.

No, the casing wasn't with it.

I kind of regret selling mine. IMO the tightest shooting 9mm out there.

My daily CCW is a SW99-40. Fantastic shooting gun. I have one in .45ACP and love that one too.

I have the trifecta. Walther P99 in 9 and 40 (both full size) and the SW99 in 0.45. The 40 is one of the most accurate of the pistols that I have in that calibre. The SW99 is a German frame with US slide where as the other two are Teutonic throughout! Enjoy. Dave_n

Nice gun.... I have a SW99 in .40 S&W and love it. It's a great little gun. Picked up some LEo Surplus mags from CDNN. I can see where S&W got their ideas for the M&P series. The Sigma and SW99 were the parents of the M&P series and it shows a lot more in terms of it's design from the SW99 then it does the Sigma series.
What caliber is your's in?

Yes. You have a very strong weapon in the 99.

I just scored an SW99 40 at the local gun show over the weekend...just the pistol and one mag...traded my Taurus 45 S/C and 100 bucks. Shoots great and looking forward to getting it dialed in...Does anyone know how I can date this one? And what do I need to be looking out for?
