SW1911e TALO?
I bought this sw1911 last friday.
I was planning on having the local gun shop order me a standard sw1911 but, when me and my roommate went to pick up his SR1911, he had this sitting in the shop already. Said it was the TALO special edition, it looks damn good and was still in my price range I had set for myself so I said what the hell and got it. Now I'm trying to find info on it like how many there are and what not but can't seem to come up with much of anything. Anybody know anything about it? Checked the TALO site and its not even listed, but I've found others for sale online that are listed as TALO so I would think its legit. Any info would be great, love the gun regardless, just want to know more about it.

I bought one too. I saw it in my local gun shop, and bought it on impulse. (I usually try to research a gun before I buy it.) When I saw this one, I knew I wanted it. I couldn't find any info on it, so I posted it on the 1911 forum, and a member there told me it was the TALO edition. I still haven't found anything else on this pistol, other than a few for sale on Gunbroker.
Here is mine:

I ordered an Ed Brown GI guide rod and plug, and replaced the FLGR.

Haha, yea it was the same with me. I had made my mind up on just a regular e series, then I saw this sitting there and instantly wanted it! At least I'm not the only one that bought one without know what it was haha

Well, I figured it was a S&W, so how wrong could you go? I checked the test fire envelope, on inspection it looked new with everything it should come with, and in all other respects looked genuine. The gun shop I bought it from always treats me right, so I felt OK about buying it "unknown." He said they couldn't get a current catalog from S&W, and they were just buying every S&W they could get from their suppliers, which wasn't many.

Please let us know how it shoots with the GI guide rod and plug. I've got an E-Series on the way, but I've never been a fan of FLGRs.

Just curious, why replace parts on a new gun, is something wrong with how it was built? I have 5 S&W 1911,, maybe 6.. never changed anything and they have all shot great..

It is mainly a matter of personal preference, and not that it makes any real difference either way on the way it shoots. To me, the FLGR makes field strip and reassembly a little more difficult, and I prefer the GI style. It's a quick and inexpensive "modification" that is easy to restore to "stock" if desired.
I have the GI style guide rod/plug in all my 1911s...most came that way, but I "converted" the others.

Hey guys I just bought the same gun, i was looking for a SW1911 E-series and found it at a gun show.
I found this thread when i was trying to figure out what exactly i had bought and why it wasn't on the S&W website
I emailed Talo and they informed me that the gun is a S&W enhanced Edition (duh) they had the slides coated and changed out the grips with the custom ones that are on our gun (which i think look sweet)
more importantly they told me they only made 500 of these and they were lucky to even get that many- So I guess it's a rare configuration that we won't see too many other guys have- for that reason I think it's a good buy.

I saw one of these in my local gun shop two weeks ago and debated for a week on rather or not to get it. I did not know anything about it or owned an S&W 1911 before, but took the plunge and it is a fine firearm. Glad to have it in the collection, and had no idea there were only 500 of these. It is a sweet shooter and damn accurate
