Default How Long Can You Fight It?

I've got to stop nosing around these gun auction sites. I ran across an absolute pristine 4566 for $500 today and have been trying to fight the feeling all evening. It keeps saying, "Pick me, pick me!" and I'm almost about to give in. Well, at least they could share the same mags as my 4506 so, that's a plus.

That feeling got me into owning 25 guns. Hope it'll stop, but that was what I thought 6 guns ago.
Is there any doctor who can fix this? LOL.

I think I need to go to the emergency room. It's not like I need another 45 with the 4506 and 4516-1.

I have been looking for a 4506 no dash with the box and paper work for years. I have come across a couple and either waited or just didn't jump on the deal when I had the chance. I have been telling myself the next one I come across for anything close to a decent price, I am going to get it and my wife will have to live with it.

You've already won a moral victory by admitting your weakness. That is the best that can be hoped for. Now you need to reward yourself for being so self aware and honest. That 4566 may as well be a first place trophy for your efforts.

I have the no dash I bought back in late 1990 for $509.95. It's been the only one I haven't traded/sold over the years and has been my HD pistol ever since I bought it. If you find one, go for it. You won't regret it.

scatterguy-You're probably right. I don't spend money on wild women, not married so, no one to answer to...I may just do this.

Trust me, there's no cure. I'm 21, and have one less gun than how many years old I am. That might change next week when I buy this nickel boron finish S&W M&P40 down at the local shop...

I understand completely. You see the gun you want at a great price and you can't help but make an offer. Then, if you're unlucky enough to win, you have to explain it to your wife. As I've told my son, "Buy all your guns before you get married."

I'm only up to an even dozen but already have the next two in sight! Started with K frames (plus and L or two!) and now into 3rd gen autos with a couple of 1911's and a PPK along the way. I can see it leveling off at 25 but I thought that at 3 or 4!

I am soooooooo glad I'm not alone anymore. I thought I was the only one who had a "Smith addiction". My spouse just shakes her head and asks if I really need that one because its just like the others! Honey no don't say that, they'll hear you. They're all different and special.

I remind her about “retail therapy”… I hate TJ-Max & Marshalls … and then she understands, all pistol are different.

I'm always quick to remind my wife that she still has more pairs of shoes than I do guns. All I seek is balance.

I use to literally hate going to the "cloth" store. I'd look around to be sure no one I knew saw me go in with her and I'd go out for lots of smoke breaks. Never could get her to go to a gun show...matter of fact, she'd leave the room if I pulled a pistol out to clean it. There's just no equality.

Reminds me of an old saying: "He who hesitates is lost." I'll Smith & Wesson modify that to: "He who hesitates looses his place in line." I missed a M625-4 3" and a M66-1 P&R 4" because of brain freeze. "Quote the Raven... Never more." That's why I just committed to a 4006TSW with milled rail... PC prototype (?)... it's the only one I've ever seen. Pics to follow when it's actually in hand!

I look, but since I live in the city, I can't shoot the guns I have enough.

The common line I get from the wife is: "But you don't even use the ones you have but every now and then."

Sometimes women just cannot understand the enormous value and therapy in shooting, cleaning, and fondling a firearm. :-)

The 4506 no dash was the first new pistol I ever bought. I was waiting for a 1006 but they had not been released yet. Bought the 45. Carried it for several years then went to a 1911 and sold it to a friend. I have regretted that sale ever since and have been looking for just the right one to replace it. When I find it I will keep it forever. I really liked the 4506. I kept my holsters for it because I know one day I will get another one.

Words of wisdom, my good man, words of wisdom.

I hope you find it. That one has been the only one I've ever had that didn't get traded or sold. I liked it from the first time I saw pics of it in a S&W catalogued they sent me(not a thick catalog but just showed all their revolvers and autos at the time...1990). Mas Ayoob had a lot to do with my choice as he and others sang the praises of it's reliability and while he gets a bashing here and there by some, he sure got it right about the 4506. One of S&W's most accurate and reliable pistols they ever built.

I was confident someone would have bought it by now. To my dismay, it's still there. I need to get my driveway fixed.
