Default My "New to Me" 3913

I just picked this up last week in a private sale for $475.00 in the original box with a galco holster and wearing a set of Hogue grips (the originals were in the box). It is in great shape with no wear marks at all. It was a little dirty but after a good cleaning I was very happy with my purchase.

The first time out to the range I put about 8 magazines through it and was consistantly low by about 2 inches. After searching other posts I see that this is fairly common with new owners. I plan on mixing up my ammo next trip and just sticking with it until I get used to the different trigger.

I did not like the look of the bobbed hammer (my apologies to the purists out there) so I ordered a 5906 hammer from Numrich for $48.00 the same day I bought it and just installed it last night. It took about an hour which included a good cleaning from the previous nights range trip. Below are a couple of before and after pics.

Is this from a rest or shooting stance? The typical symptom of shooting low is anticipation or pushing the pistol before the round discharges. When you anticipate\push, the muzzle points downward a tad. Of course if you're shooting from a rest, then it's something different since you're eliminating the human error factor.

Put another 200rds through it and you'll get used to your new pistol just fine! You'll be punching out one ragged hole!

I still push the first DA shot a little with my 3913TSW, so it's always low.

Congrats on a fine 3913. I always liked the hammer with the spur like you installed. I no longer have 3913s but I do have 6906s. I may attempt that one day. Looks like you got a good one. I have bought lots of 3rd gen autos and they all were excellent guns. Nothing in plastic like them. I bought M&P 9fs and 9c but I still like the exposed hammer and sold them shortly afterwards.

Wink

I was shooting two handed, standing. 115gr FMJ Federal and WWB. I was also shooting my Sig P239 that night and was dead on with it.

I am not worried about it I know it will come to me. Besides this will give me a reason to up my range trips to twice a week.

Yup, just didn't want you to doubt the 3913's performance. It's a d@mn fine pistol and will live up to it's legend that all of us proclaim around here!

When I first got my 3913 a couple years back i also shot low, but after a few trips to the range and getting used to it, it was dead on. I f you find that you are still shooting low after awhile, try shooting with 124 grain 9mm, that will do the trick for you.
good shooting
