Default 945 shooters

Any 945 shooters? I haven't found commentary here on this fine gun. The one I have is a stainless 5 inch and is Bullseye accurate even with full power loads. I have considered
popping in a stronger recoil spring and giving some 45 Super loads a try. Has anyone tried this?

I bought the 945 because the 952 was so well made and an
excellent shooter. At first I was a little discouraged because I thought the size and feel would be the same but it is in fact a little bigger. However, it is as well made and is definitely superior in accuracy. I have 3 Colt 1911s and it outshoots them every time. (in all fairness it cost a LOT more) I haven't messed with it at all, usually shoot medium to slightly above medium loads with no problems so I'm inclined not to change anything. I just enjoy it the way it is.

I have two 945s one is the 5" and shoot it frequently. I am completely pleased with the gun. I don't compete any more but this shoots a bit better than my competition guns did and some of them were very expensive.
My other 945 is the short one and is my carry piece. I shoot it a lot and it is as accurate with defence loads as most target guns as well as reliable. I feel that the 945 is the best value in a single action 45.

I've got one of very 1st RSR excusive 945's (no dash). I bought it in almost unused condition from the original owner about 10 years ago.

I took it to the range the very next Friday and this is the 1st sight in target I shot with it. It's only gotten better from there.

I've had a short barrel 945 in the safe for 10 years. Shot it a little when I first got it and just put it away. So about a month ago I loaded up a bunch of 200 grain LSWC's and thought I'd run some through it. I'm truely impressed with this pistol. So much so that this is my primary IWB carry piece now. 1 ragged hole at 25'. The PC does a nice job. What a great gun.

I haven't tried 45 Super Loads but have shot some very hot 45 230 grain HP loads @ 950 fps out of mine. To use these loads I used a Wolf 24lb spring for a 745. The 24 lb spring was maybe a bit too stiff for these loads as the brass landed only a few feet away. Since 230 grain 45 super loads go about 1100 to 1150 fps the spring might work. I also used lighter springs 8-12lb to shoot mouse fart 185 grain LSWC target loads.

Hope this helps.

I only use my 5 inch 945 for bullseye pistol matches with a lead SWC.

I have a Camfour 945 4" lightweight. I also own 11 custom and semi-custom 1911's. This rather inexpensive small 945 shoots as well as all my others at 50' or. Less. I tried to sell it at one time because I wanted another 1911 and the feel is so lightly different but still slightly noticeable from a 1911. I'm glad I had no buyers but puzzeled as to why. Not too many people must know about how good it is. I had trouble with both steel and alloy 1911's cracing in the past but this frame looks like it will last forever and looks brand new even though I must have fired 5000 rds or so thru it. Did change recoil springs once or twice. Great gun.

I have a PC 945-1 and I am looking for some handload recipes for 185gr LSWC - shooting bullseye competition at 50' and 25 yds.

Thanks!

I own a 645, 745, 845, 945 and a S&W 1911. I like them all, the 7, 8, 9 are especially accurate but if i had to have only one it would be the 945.
I don't understand why the 7, 8, and 945 were not promoted more.

I've been shooting bullseye with factory Trajetech 185gr SWC with the factory #12 spring. Working well. I love my 945-1.

Really funny, I read post #2 and thought that sounds just like me then I realized it was. Didn't notice it was an old post.
