Default 422 issue

Bought a well used 422 that had the mag stuck inside. Replaced the latch and spring, so everything related to those parts seems to function smoothly.

Problem that I have is that I have to drop the mag between shots to fire. Will fire, slide cycle to eject spent and load new, but trigger won't pull. Drop mag and reseat and it will fire.

Only have the one mag, but working on that. have tried the ballpoint spring trick.

Anyone had this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I had the same problem with my 422. The problem is in the magazine disconnect safety under the right grip. I could have fixed it myself probably but Smith was willing to ship it back so I let them. It only took a few days and I had it back and it has worked great since. If you take the grip off you will see that the mag is going past the disconnect without engaging it. It just needs a little more bend in it to make the connection.

What is confusing me is that the lever on the right side that you mention is functioning properly. I looked at it closely again last night and it is the "transfer bar" under the left panel that raises when the mag is inserted, but drops after being fired.

I hope a new mag will fix the problem.

Voila. Detailed disassembly to find that the new trigger spring was not on it's seat.

Only lost the slide stop spring twice, so other than 30 minutes searching, this was an easy fix.
