Devel M59?
There is a modified 59 on GB that I talked myself out of earlier today before the first auction ended.
The gun smithing appears to be first rate but I'm unconvinced that it was a Devel or one of the other 2 or 3 well know purveyors of modified 39's and 59's.
Someone with more knowledge may draw a different conclusion. I'd be most interested in some expert opinion. I've no intention of placing a bid on the pistol at this point.
Here's the expired auction info -

Not a DEVEL Conversion.
That was definately not a DEVEL conversion. Devel conversions were offered in 3 different levels, the full house, the basic cut, and the function and reliability packages. All 3 had extra numbers added on to the end of the factory serial number, and had DEVEL red oval logos inlaid in the grips which this gun does not have, Also none of the DEVEL models have a checkered rear slide/frame as seen on this one. The work looks to be very well done. I'm sure it would be an excellent shooter. I have no guess as to who would have done this modification.

I agree, it definately is not, here's my take on it; Satin nickeled 59 frame, second gen model 669 (stainless) slide and barrel (rear of slide checkered), some kind of DAO hammer that i've never seen before.....in fact the frame is completely unaltered externally with the exception of the satin or probably electroless nickel....

The frame appears to have been shortened - note how the serial number and model number ("59") does not line proportional as in a standard fame length.
The 669 slide makes sense -
Perplexing..................

The dust cover, or front portion of the frame, looks right, the serial number and model number were stamped all over the place on model 59's, but after a second look, it appears the tang has definately been shortened, didn't notice that at first....
