Default 52-2 Serial number question

Hi folks, I have just purchased a mint 52-2 and am in the process of determining the year of production. I have the S&W Standard Catalog, but my Serial # is not listed. It is A106XXX
It is definitely a 52-2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

SN fits appx. 69 but first 52-2 in 71. Best to contact Jinks at S&W to confirm ship date.

I actually just bought a 52-2 and its serial number is A1062XX. I posted on this forum about it just as you did, and was given the same answer. The standard Catalog says that the 52-2s started at A115000. I'm thinking they used up some older frames that were already forged and serialized, but hadn't yet been assembled. That's the only thing that makes sense. At some point I'll probably get a letter on the gun, just to satisfy my curiosity. Enjoy your model 52!

Rule #1: S&W never wastes anything

Rule #2: Any S&W fact, figure or statistic that you hear probably has an exception
