Default 908 sight adjustment

Just purchased a 908 and I need to move the front sight to correct the poi.
Since these are plastic sights what is the proper way to move the sight,is a sight pusher needed or can you tap it with a pin punch?

I've done both and take my word for it, a pusher is preferable. Use a plastic or hardwood drift if you have to bang on it. Both sights on my 908 are really tight.
Don't forget to put a pencil mark on the sight and gun so you can tell how much you've moved it.

They are pretty soft plastic and they are tightly fitted to the slide. I bought a used 908s and the sights were a bit banged up like the gun had been dropped, so I installed some new sights and had the best results using a wooden dowel for a punch.

I used a wood dowel.... I shaped the end of the dowel in a slight dovetail with a sharp blade. Added a slight edge to catch the rise angle mid range of the sight. Oil it well before hand with CLP or penetrant. Drift it slowly with a light hammer drive.

Thank for the advice ,I'll probably try the wooden dowel and CLP first.
Thanks Again

One other thing. There are two springs under the rear sight that operate the tension to the ejector depressor and the the firing pin safety plunger. As I recall, one flew when I did mine as I was not paying attention to the springs. As you're drifting it out. You will see the first and then the second. IIRC the second flew and luckily I recovered it.

Here's another thread with more info.

908s Broken Rear Sight.
