Default model 39-2 alloy or steel?

Am interested in a model 39-2, serial #A 274***. Slider is blued
but frame is smoother & jet black. Magnet does not seem to stick as well to the frame as it does to the slider. Any doubt that it's any alloy frame?
What are they worth?
What is best way to spot excessive ware?

Thanks,
Tom (2hattom)

Frame is aluminum alloy....check the frame rails and area where the barrel unlocks into the frame for excessive wear....

Thanks for your help. I know this is getting to be an old question but I am a total amature and there are so many models and variations; and also a fare amount of money involved.

I paid $400. I'm happy, he's happy. Love shooting the 39-2. Do have difficulty removing the slide stop. Working on that with help of the Forum.
