Default M-41 barrel weight

Does anyone know the weight of the old style 7" bbl with or w/o the muzzle break? I currently shoot a 5" heavy bbl that weighs about 20.oz. Age and rotator cuff problems make it hard to hold off-hand w/o grouping low and I'm wondering if the longer bbl might reduce the total weight (about 54 oz incl. scope). Any ideas?

The 1971 catalog lists the model 41 with 7 3/8” barrel as 43 ½ oz and the 5 ½" heavy barrel as 44 ½ oz.
So that’s 1 oz lighter for the 7 3/8", hope that helps.
Cheers

Thanks for your input.I don't doubt the catalog's description but a one oz. difference would hardly seem to "qualify" the 5.5" bbl as "heavy". Maybe the adv. agency thought differently. However the total weight is in the ball park for my gun.
Thanks again for your effort.

If weight is the issue and you are using a scope, try going with a Clark 5.5" STC barrel. It has a rail machined into the top and lacks the extension over the rear of the slide. Weight is 13.5 oz.

Thanks, will look into the Clark bbl. I do use a scope, an Ultra-Dot that's mounted directly onto a "rail" milled into the top of the bbl held with weaver type rings. The total wt. is about 28 oz.
