Default shot my 4506-1 for the first time today

took my 4506 out for the first time today and i was very impressed. ive owned many 3rd gen smiths and this 4506 is the best shooting smith/any handgun ive ever owned. its weird how a gun can shoot so much better than another even though its from the same manufacturer, it smoked all of the 4566's i used to own. i was shooting 4'' groups at 15 yards. i better hang onto this one as i have a bad habit of turning pistols around after owning them for a few months

Awesome! You got a great gun there.

I've owned mine since new and it feeds and shoots the hell out of every target. The only issue I had with the -1 was the dreaded trigger click, twice. Two trips back to S&W over the years and she is as good as new for a few years now. The one thing is the gun never not fed or missed it's mark on target.

Great gun, enjoy it.

I just got a 4506-1 and have not yet fired it but did notice the "trigger click" while dry firing snap caps.

What causes this "trigger click", and how do you fix it?

Uncle Pauly that is the trigger play spring making that click. There is a thread in the notable threads section detailing how to fix it. The thread is titled "4566 clicking issue" Easy fix with a pencil eraser or chopstick and some judicious pressure on the top ears of the spring.

OP the 4506-1's I have are a joy to shoot. Actual "tack driving" accuracy. I too have found the 4506-1 to be slightly more inherently accurate than even my beloved 4566's. Probably by virtue of their longer, thicker, more tighly fitted barrels. Regards 18DAI

Great pistols, easy to shoot. I don't recall ever having a jam with a 45XX series Smith.
