Who needs a .357? I have a 457!
An acquaintance of mine was showing off a 457 that he bought for a song a couple of weeks ago. I saw him yesterday and asked how it was working out for him. He let me know it was a great gun, just not for him and he was looking to sell it. The price was right, and I had an empty spot in between my 4506 and my 4513TSW so I jumped on it! He gave me a great deal, but I know what he paid as well and I was happy that he was able to make a couple of bucks on the deal.
Two mags and a hogue hand all wrap around grip were included as well.

Nice! Is that a 457D or just a single sided safety.

Just a standard 457 with a single sided safety.

Great guns. I have two and I have to control myself or I might buy a third.

I too have one and it has yet to mis-behave with any ammo I feed it....just keeps on going and going...etc.
You are going to love it!

Just got one today myself, very underrated piece! Mine like the 185gr. stuff and at 15 yards can produce fist sized groups.
Too bad S&W had to go polymer. Dale

I had one some time back - I felt it was redundant to my 4516 and got rid of it.
Regretted it almost immediately.
Picked up another about a year ago. Since I got the second one I've obtained a Rosen ARG and a Sparks Summer Special for it as carry options.
Since the leather is worth almost as much as the gun I suspect that I'll be holding on to this one.

They are indeed great guns, totally unappreciated. I myself only have one but it is certainly one of my favorite S&W's. Have never seen a stainless or bi-tone however....anybody know if S&W offered these variants?

I have had one for a long time too. The only issue is better sights availability. Anyone know a source for night sights or better yet adjustable sights to fit that dovetail?

Just bought a 4506 this week. Looking for a 457. Had one once. Should not have let it get away.

If the 457 has the same notch as the 3rd gen guns, this might work: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/740...eel-blue-3-dot

Yes, the 457 is a 'value line' gun. Similar to your 910, it was built with the intention of producing a quality gun that was less refined than a typical production S&W auto. It's important to remember that when S&W 2nd and 3rd gen guns were at the height of production, the MSRP was very high as compared to the price of a standard gun today. So, in 2013 dollars, this was the equivalent of them taking a $900 gun, scaling back to production costs a bit, and marketing it for $600...I don't think these guns were ever 'cheap' like what you might find being produced today for around $400. It was designed to offer an S&W auto to a working man who had to pay for his side arm out of pocket at a price he could afford.
