Default Finally received my letters today

After a long 3 1/2 months wait, I finally received the R. Jinks letters on my pair of unique Shorty 40's. The letters did confirm my suspicion that S&W was not responsible for getting the pistols Mag-na-ported. Both were shipped to Lew Horton on Nov. 25, 1996. Now, I have another wait trying to get some information from Lew Horton. Don't know what Historical data they will provide. As a back-up I am also contacting Mag-na-port to see if their record keeping can tell me anything.

I hate to admit it, but I was a little disappointed in the S&W letter. The construction, grammar, and proof reading has something that needs some improvement. When my name was misspelled on the inside address, a punctuation mark on a line by itself, and making reference to a Shorty 40 as a revolver. This occurred on both letters. For $100, I guess I expected perfection like the Performance Center pistols.

I think I'd try to get a refund on the letter. I thought they cost 50.00?

Yeah, for $100 I would NOT be happy.

Indicative of quality control company winds these days.

Beautiful pair of Shorty 40s you got there, and I would probably send a copy of the letters to Mr. Jinks's office with a politely worded note explaining your disappointment with them.

Spelling my name wrong, and extra punctuation marks/gamatical errors wouldn't bother me at all. But how can the rest of the letter be trusted if those are referenced as being revolvers? I would be disappointed too. Ed

Hello,
I am disappointed to hear that your letter was less than adequate. I'm not sure but there is the possibility an intern or some other wrote the response. I doubt Mr. Jinks would approve that letter.
I was curious how long you waited for a response. I am going on two months.
Tex

Contact Roy and he'll redo the letters, simple as that.

I feel very sure that that will be the case. Just give him a call. You can usually speak directly to Roy.

After giving it some thought and reading some of the responses, I realize that it was probably and assistant or intern that type up the letters in a Word program and just printed it. Monday I will call S&W CS and try to talk directly with Roy asking for a reprint with corrections.

Hopefully I can get some good information back from Lew Horton or Mag-na-port, just to satisfy my own curiosity.

My advice, call up, and let them know your dissatisfaction.

$100 is a lot of money, even these days. For any money paid for services rendered, the service should be correct, and if it is not, it should be made correct, or you should get a refund.

Those are nifty looking shooters you have by the way.

Roy is a real gentleman. Just send him the incorrect letter with an explanation of the errors and he'll correct them. He did so for me recently and I didn't have to wait long.

Roy Jinks is a good and honorable man. He is quite backed up and, as they say, no one is perfect. So, I suggest you kindly request the errors be fixed, and I feel confident that he will do so.

A short update, today I talked with Roy Jinks about the letters. He is very receptive on making the changes for me.

This week I also talked with Lew Horton. They do keep all records computerized and ran my serial numbers through the system. They were originally sold to a dealer in Kentucky and they did not have them Mag-na-ported before the sale.

I then talked with Mag-na-port, their record keeping is not computerized and said their records are stored in boxes up stairs and would take along time to find any information. If you have ever read anything on the history the rapid growth, and relocation of Magnaport, you would understand their situation.
