Default Finally found bought a Smith bottom feeder

I love my autos but have never owned a Smith till this week end. I ended up picking up a 3953 and so far it meets all my 'like' points for an auto in my safe.

For some reason I have a soft spot for single stack metal framed 9's and can't stand levers on the slide.

Anyone ever swapped springs on a 3rd gen with good results?

Looking forward to a range test soon.

Sent from my Motorola Flip phone.

Honestly, I would just put some ammo in it and fire away. That is a nice score in the current market. If you don't mind me askin' how much did you pick her up for and where?

Pictures or it didn't happen!

A couple of people with experience working on and shooting 3rd generation guns recommend replacing the recoil and main springs routinely when you buy a used gun. That way you know that the springs are good and since spring seem to be the #1 cause of malfunctions, you've eliminated your most likely source of aggravation.

I don't recall that anyone has recommended changing the springs to something with other than factory weights, so I can't comment.

I'll take a 9mm single stack family picture as soon as I can.

I'm not current on Smith Auto prices but I think I did OK. $350 ftf with a Kramer Holster and a box of Federal 124 gr hydra shocks.
