5906 Questions
The only experience I have with 3rd Gen. Smiths is the 4516-2 that I bought new in '96. I like it very much and would certainly consider another 3rd Gen. Can you give me some advice/opinions on the 5906? I know of two really nice ones that are for sale at what seems like a fair price. Any downsides that you are aware of? What are the positives? What do you think a fair price might be in say around 92-96% condition? I totally understand that it varies from area to area and I saw on another recent thread that the prices for 3rd Gens are up or at least are going up. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have a 3913nl, 2 6906's, and my favorite 5906. Many think the weight, all stainless, is a downside, but its why its one of the best rapid fire handguns because of the low recoil and trigger reset. The climb in prices for the 3rd gens. hasn't affected the 5906 has much because of large number of them out there. Around 450.00 for a +90 % pistol would be fair.

Great guns. For the most part trouble free. Heavy but no heavier than your 45.
In good cond id pay $450 give or take. If its a police gun then less

I miss mine! To me the only downside is they are no longer in production.

I like the 5906 so much that I have 3 of them. LSU Campus Police used to carry these. One of mine is from a retired officer. Geaux Tigers!

Any markings? I have a couple 5906, and am an LSU alum... would love to see the inscription on it
