Default 3913 Parts and a 'Smith

I should pick up my new (to me) 3913 tomorrow. Where can I get the parts I will soon be needing, such as recoil springs? Midway has a few pages of stuff and looks helpful. Are there any other places that stock 3913 parts? And, if I need a gunsmith, who do you recommend? Thanks.

Wolff Springs: Springs for SMITH & WESSON NUMBERED SERIES Semi-Auto Pistols

They sell each of the springs individually, or you can buy a "service pack" that contains one of each of the commonly replaced springs.

Brownells (World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools - BROWNELLS) sells just about any and every factory part you'll need for the 3913. On the left hand side of the page you'll see a link for 'Factory Gun Parts'. Just click that link, select S&W and it will take you to indexed exploded diagrams of each S&W pistol.

A great site, a great company!

I'm curious, what's wrong with your 3913 that you need new parts?

For a gunsmith you could try: MidwayUSA - Gunsmith Locator: Professional Gunsmithing Services Directory - Find a Gunsmith Today.

Default 3913 and 4516 spurred hammer

I just finished replacing the bobbed hammer on my 3913 and have now ordered the same for my 4516. I ordered the hammer from Brownell's. Cost $52 with shipping, they have lots of spare parts. One thing to note about the replacement hammer includes the spring guide, the one I received was too long and had to be cut down. It wasn't a big deal, except that I didn't compare the two before assembly and when I slid on the main spring and plunger noted it was a bit too long. Had to disassemble to cut the new one down. Works perfectly!

Default parts for your S&W

Try Jack First or Numrichs (Gun Parts). They stock parts for all makes if you don't have any luck with Brownell's or Midway.

Shoot it until it malfunctions.....why replace a bunch of parts that don't need it.

(It go through many thousands of rounds before it will malfunction... if it ever does)

Just MY thoughts...........I carry and have fired many thousands of rounds through my own 3913 and it still is running on original springs.

For parts you can always try S&W, I've probably gotten as much from them as Midway and often their prices (in my experience at least) are ok. Re: gunsmithing services, my opinion is its often preferable for many reasons to try to find and use someone locally, less chance for errors/miscommunication when dealing with someone face to face. If you must ship, outfit called Cylinder and Slide in Fremont Nebraska has seemingly a very good reputation. They are about 30min from me and though I have never used them I know several people locally who have and all have been pleased. Have also seen good feedback on them via internet from people who have shipped guns to them for work or repairs. Good luck.
