4566
I have a 4566 that shoots really low with everything I have tried. From 185s to 230s. Anyone else have this problem. Other than this, it is one of my favorite 3Rd gens. I would like to solve this dilemma because it makes a great companion to my 1066. Lots easier to get ammo.

Mine also shoots low. I swapped out the factory sights for a set of night sights ( I forget which brand) and it sill shoots low.

There are a couple things to consider here.
Anticipation the shot or recoil will cause a shooter to consistently shoot low with a gun that otherwise would shoot to POA. You should simply make sure the cause isn't you before making modification to the weapon.
What sights are on the gun now?
Assuming it is equipped with the standard non-tritium Novak three dot sights, your front sight should be .229" tall. There are shorter factory front sights you may install which will raise your POI. For example S&W part# 108350000 measures .216" tall
So assuming the problem is not with your technique, either a taller rear sight or shorter front post or both will correct it.
Cheers
Bill

A good way to see if it's you would be to get some snap caps, load a few at random in the mag, or better yet, have someone else load them so you don't know the sequence, and go shooting.
If you're "pushing" or anticipating the recoil, it will be obvious on when the hammer falls on the snap cap and there's no bang and recoil.

I was hitting low too with my 4566, so I filed off the top of the front site until I was hitting where I was aiming. I must have filed about 1/8-inch off the front site. Then I read somewhere on the forum that the stock sites are combat sites, and instead of lining up the top of the rear site with the top of the front site, you are supposed to line up the back two white dots with the front white dot. So I bought and installed a replacement front site, and tried the white dot method. I still shoot low, but not as much.

S&W made several different height front sights. The front sights on both of my 4566 LE models are very short. Both are Trijicon Novak night sights.
I notice they are the same height as the front sight on my early production 4513TSW.
Both my 4566's shoot to POA using Ranger 230 grain rounds. Regards 18DAI

I typically shoot low with just about every pistol I have whether it's a .22 on up to a .45 Colt Combat Commander. I've tried to train myself to kick that front sight up just a tad. Sometimes in a fast combat string I forget and yep, there they go, an inch and a bit more low. Since I'm not trying to shoot the eye out of a gnat at fifty paces, I don't let it worry me. 5/4s of an inch, I can live with.

I shoot my 1066 dead on. I think the shorter front sight might be the ticket. I have 4 3rd gens and this is the only one that hits low. I was hoping someone had an answer. I think the sight thing will bring it up. Where can I get that part?

My 4566 also shot very low. I measured the front sight, and it was way taller than the supposed stock value. Numrich had the shorter ones in stock and it fixed the problem. Same thing happend with my 3914.

I found the stock front sight to be part #109110000, which is .245. The shorter height front sight(say that three times fast! )that BMCM mentioned, part #108350000, is .216, & available at Brownells for $14.99. I hope this helps you!
