Default Lubricant?

What does everyone use to lubricate their semi's? I've used it all 3 in 1 oil, rem oil, Tetra, etc.

Just bought a new shield 40 and after cleaning the absurd amount of oil dripping from it I lubricated it properly with Tetra gun grease. Tetra gun grease has been my go to for awhile on all areas where there is metal on metal contact.

Just looking for some others opinions...

I don't like 3 in 1 because it is more kerosene than oil.
There are dozens of good products; I use Brownells Action Grease more than anything else.

I have used Mobil 1, Slip 2000 oil and EWL grease, some syn grease avail in LGS, but I have settled on Valvoline Duroblend semi-syn grease. Its cheap and a tub will probably last several years. I put the grease in a 30ml syringe so it can be applied sparingly. Its thin, sticks very well, and cleans off easily.
I go to a local range 1-3 times a week so I usually swab the barrels at the range at the end of day and then I do a complete cleaning every two or three weeks.

It depends on the gun and depends where on the gun. A Glock needs three or four drops of thin Remoil. A SIG needs a good grease on the rails. Etc.

I use Froglube paste on every gun I have now. I also have liquid I use to lightly lube pins and hard to reach spots. It reduces the build up of debris, burnt powder and is super easy to clean and it's super slick. I have an M&P 15-22 that was really picky with ammo. After using froglube I've not have one feeding issue since, 500+ rounds later.

It's worth a try, check it out.

First I use CPL and Hoppe's solvent to clean everything, then I use a drop of Hoppe's, or Rem-oil on any rotating parts and I put a light film of oil on all the metal parts. Then I apply Super Lube Teflon synthetic grease on the sliding parts with a q-tip. Finally I reassemble the pistol and wipe it down with a rag and occasionally polish it with a wax impregnated cloth.

I was at a gun show this weekend, anything that was considered a gun lube was higher priced than 22LR ammo.

I will be following this thread!!

IMHO, Eezox has worked for me for 20 years, but, I have recently seen posts elsewhere that FrogLube slightly out-protected Eezox.

The only gun that I ever had that needed good lube to run right was a SS Gold Cup (Series 80, 45ACP)

It would run with Eezox.

Breakfree CLP.

It works great. I bought a gallon and the price-per-ounce is downright reasonable.

I use Super Lube - synthetic grease with PTFE micro powders combine to form a premium lubricant that provides protection against friction, wear, rust and corrosion over a temperature range of -45°F to +450°F. No affiliation...

My polymer guns get cleaned with Hoppes and/or CLP. Then they get Hoppes gun lube on all moving parts.

My steel semis get cleaned and lubed as above, then Slide Glide is added to the friction parts.

Also use some slide glide on my AR, as well.

Naughty, naughty, boy!

I use Hoppe's where an oil is needed, & where grease is called for. I use Lubriplate's gun formulation. Works well for me!

I clean with Breakfree and RAND Viking tactical CLP. I use TW25b for grease.

Another product I use for "light cleaning" or fast cleaning is TW25 weapons wipes. Real fast clean using those. Less mess too. Regards 18DAI

Clean with Hoppes and Rem Action Cleaner, lube with Mobil 1 or Rem oil, and automotive wheel bearing grease both in 10ml syringes. And, a silicone cloth.

The Hoppes is usually used on Q-tips and in the barrel.

The Rem Action is used as a final spray down and then let dry before lubing.

The Mobil 1 is used inside and outside the barrels, and on bolts.

The Rem Oil is used in a light spray where needed.

The grease is used on contact points like slides and posts.

The Silicone cloth is used as a final outside wipe off.

I prefer aerosol, PAM cooking spray, especially when in the kitchen!!

Google it, highly recommended!!

Much faster application, , except for the "chill" of the propellant.

I use M-Pro 7 Gun Oil LPX. It contains a cleaning agent that repels dust/dirt and will not evaporate. It can be used as a cleaner in the field.

I use Ed's Red as cleaner / lube for all my firearms save one, I only have three semi autos and I am testing froglube on my M&P45. So far it works ok, but not really any better or worse than ER. The main lube in ER after all the aromatics evaporate is ATF. My 39 though just a range gun, has always functioned flawlessly with just the ATF lube.

I've been pleased with Ballistol. Eats water and is good on metal parts as well as wood. I began using it after getting into black powder firearms -- those guys love it.

Froglube all the way. I use it on rifles and semi autos. I got the kit with the spray clean, liquid oil/grease and the paste to use as you would a grease. My brother in law is a rep and I have been sold on it since I used it the first time.

Default Not Three-in-one

Three in one oil is too thin and light.

My 3rd gen pistol manual sez to use 4 drops of oil, just like the Glock.

Ed's Red for cleaning and Red Oil (3:1 mix of Mobile One and synthetic ATF). Both are great stuff.

It's worth a try, check it out.
+1 for Frog Lube. Makes clean up after a long day at the range much easier. Can be handled without using rubber/latex gloves since it is biodegradable. A bit pricey, but a little goes a long way.

Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) has a recommendation for cleaning your gun on his twitter account.

Anything but froglube , it turned to a gummy sticky mess when left for a couple weeks without use.

That's interesting. I haven't seen that with any of my guns after using Frog Lube. I have few rifles I don't handle very often, used Frog on them and don't have any build up. Did you use just the paste? If so, where? I use the paste for only certain areas and I wipe away excess as suggested. When I am done, there is a nice coating where I've used it, but not over the top build up or excess.

As someone mentioned, Frog Lube (best price is in the kits), is spending, but it goes a extremely long way. I use on all my guns, never a problem and use less than I have with other cleaners and oils. And I am meticulous when cleaning my guns either after shooting. If I know it's going to be awhile before I use one of my guns (normally rifles), I clean them, store them and pull them out to check and clean again in a few months.

Maybe you left to much paste in your gun? I don't know, but I never had a problem.
