Performance Center Recon Trifecta
I have three PC Recon pistols hiding from sale as I liquidate my collection. A 9 Recon, 40 Recon and 45 Recon. How would you call the race among them to be the last sold and why? See photos.

I'd be split between the 9 Recon and the 40 Recon, honestly. PC Shorty 9s seemed to be the rarer of the bunch and for whatever reason S&W didn't make a 6906TSW compared to a 4013TSW or 4513TSW. But that 40 Recon also has a .357 SIG barrel....

What a great group you have there, Red Cardinal! A shame to break it up, but all good things must come to an end at some point.
As you already know, the 40 is the rarest of the bunch -- at least as far as we have been able to document in the absence of any disclosed Jinks letters or other evidence. So, just on that basis, my vote would be to hold on to it the longest. Plus, it might just be the one that gets the lowest final bid, since 40S&W isn't as desirable as the other two. Although, if it truly is paired with a 357Sig barrel, that would be a very nice package indeed, and my guess is that it would bring close to what the others do.

Well, hammy5150 and virgil617 have zeroed in on the 40 Recon with some appropriate comments. When I was active LE, I only used 40, 45 and 357S. For the 40 Recon, I have the original ported barrel, a second PC 40S&W without the port, and the 357S barrel custom made by Briley and shown in the photo. I have been a 40S&W fan from the beginning, I love the 45ACP, and I like the 9MM. I use the one that fits my mission at the time.

Early years of the Performance Center 1993-? the .40 S&W was the hot new caliber....... everyone, but me, had to have one or more..... "The Shorty Forties"....... were the "it'' gun to have...............
I was lucky and stuck to 9mm and .45s. All my PC guns are 9mm..... should have kept the .45 CQB but hated the "Billboard" and passed on a Recon .45 due to the ported barrel....... some things you live and learn to late!

I hated the ported barrel too. Did away with it. The billboard is growing on me.

There were several mentions in articles about the Billboard being an issue if you ever had to use the gun for self-defense.... DA would try to make you a "mall-ninja" carrying a gun specifically built for "CQB" or war.... "Recon".
Kind of silly looking back... but at the time ..............

The two-tone is my favorite. Is that the nine? Keep it for last.

For that kind of gun I like the 9 better and it would be the only one I would keep to carry. But the other two are nice and would fetch good money. So...

James , I only have 2 of them , the 9 thanks to you , and the 45 . The 45 is picky on ammo and not everybody likes the compensator . The 9 has never been shot and never will . The 40 I can't talk about .
If I was to rate them it would be the 40 would be last due to the two barrels . I have a 4006TSW CHP I wanted to convert but can't find a barrel . The 9 would be next and the 45 would be the first out the door .
Your collection , what you have and what you've had would make any PC nut drool . If I'm lucky enough to get a portion of what you have I would count myself a lucky man . I enjoy our talks , so call any time .

I’ve been watching for some more input but I guess I better say something while the post is still active.
Of course everybody who responded was right. But I would want to say that the 40 Recon should be the first one you should sell. Of course to me.
I understand this is a hypothetical question for you as you are still actively collecting as you are dispersing.
I really like these little PC examples and will eventually find/get a 40 Recon. It is the missing part of my “collection” of them.
Jim
Edit to notate and not to insult anyone, top row are obliviously Shorty’s.

Perhaps a “trade” for the 40 Recon. Plus some cash on my end of course.?
Could be a belated birthday present for you.

Well, thanks for all of the comments. They have convinced me to pass these Recons on to my sons. Then to the grandkids.

I think that’s the best decision!
