Well, this one's for real: S&W RSR Transitional Model No. 6591 (a 659 + 1) SN RSR 2802
Please forgive the single image and poor lighting. All to be corrected in future shoots.
It's hard to describe one of those moments when rewarded for hard work invested in catching a S&W rarity and, now, I've got two, perhaps three with the addition of the above, RSR 2802 of which there is little doubt as to its rarity.
To be honest, I didn't exactly track it down as much as it was made available to me - and not even "me" specifically.
I was undertaking a regular and boring (so much so that double vision generally ensues from accompanying eye fatigue) reading of S&W guns for sale - we're talking thousands from multiple sources - when seen was an ad that led me to the above.
At auction, put in was a price that was believed no one else would touch, and didn't.
I even picked it up in person.
Wow, how appropriate. My 60th S&W in my collection and it's a gem. It's also a beautiful gun, too, leaving this Smith & Wesson aficionado wondering why it didn't go into production but glad it didn't.
