Noting the date of the entry immediately preceding this - now drawing close to one year earlier than this missive - yours truly hopes he hasn't missed debate and/or information on the specific topic: the nature of the 4690 and 4691's sights.
If such be the case elsewhere, please answer herein and provide a pointer to the relevant discussion.
Whosoever doeth has my "Thank You" in advance.
In the meantime . . .
Pictured below is a recently acquired RSR 4690 that, as a close look will attest, needs a refresher and, hopefully, will soon be on its way to the Mothership for such after I do a little tuning and whatever else so that the present finish is screwed up and not the future finish.
As for the sights:
Inasmuch as the RSR 4690 is a 469 which RSR ordered and that the S&W Model 469 is visually distinguished (at least in the blue) by the yellow on the forward sight's saw, it seemed logical to me that the yellow forward blade would be retained, as does mine wear one.
The same being said for the S&W Model 469's standard rear sight, which while lacking a windage (a.k.a., "lateral" or "horizontal") adjustment screw it nevertheless can be moved to reflect the barrel's horizontal plane.
Such an odd thing, these little questions that, at least presently, are lost to an explanation that at the time of determination would be at one's fingertips or on the tip of the tongue.
As of this time I've got the above under review, as well as an analysis and determination of factors that would lend themselves to visually identifying the correct backstrap for the pre-, the 39, the 39-2 and the 52, which in large part was based on the model 39 and share at least some interchangeable parts (the grips coming immediately to mind).
Then, there is the Model 59s backstrap . . .
. . . Ah, but I'm trending far from the subject at hand, huh?
Returning to same: Having noted the above, yours truly recognizes that until the matter is factually settled, any forward or rear sight now is suspect.
Bummer.
Later.
