Default New to me 4566tsw

I picked up a nice 4566tsw over the weekend and thanks to a post on here I now know that it was originally made for the Syracuse police dept back in Jan 2006. I have yet to fire the pistol but I knew that it was going home with me after the first time I picked it up and held it. Nice to have a well built/metal non plastic pistol. Once my shooting sidekick gets some rounds loaded we will be off to the range.

Does it have a rail? Mine does, unfortunately, but I still like the gun. Its a lot of fun at the range.

Good choice.

How do you know it was made for Syracuse PD?

I would letter it to confirm that and the 2006 date.

It does have the rail. Why do you think that is unfortunate?

I called S&W and they told me that it was made for them and shipped in Jan. of 06. Should I go furthur? I just wanted to know how old it was, it had been very well maintained.

Just a personal preference. I don't like the way they look & I'm not one to put a flashlight on a pistol. Of the seven TSW's I own, three have rails, three don't, & one has had the rail removed. Finding a TSW is getting harder, & having a rail won't keep me from buying a TSW(obviously!), but if I have a choice, I prefer mine without.

Congrats!

Fine pistol. Reliable, accurate and looks good doing all that. If one ever appears on the cover of a gunrag or in a rap video they will quadruple in price. Enjoy yours! Regards 18DAI

This is what I love about having a choice . If you like your rail keep it , if you don't it falls off . My guns my choice. I find the rail such a non issue.

OK, My Preference is they fall off on 'MY' guns. If I happen upon a 2007 or later CHP 4006tsw or 4566tsw then the rail stays as they are not bolt on.

I was referring to my guns only. If you read my earlier post, I said I had three with a rail, three without, & one that had had the rail removed. Its just MY preference to not have rails, but I won't remove one from a gun that came with one. Not unless I could do the kind of work that BMCM does!

Sounds good. But if its a non-issue, why bother?
