1979 - 1980 serial number range A565001-655000
Value? Looks excellent? I'll guesstimate $700???
Under $400 - it's a steal?
Up to $800ish - in the realm of realistic?
Over $1000 - if your a philanthropist?
One million dollars - Dr. Evil - Yeah Baby!

Ron, that package is an excellent find. Congratulations. And I think g8rb8's valuations are very sound. However, I'm glad it was you that found it and not me. If it was me, I know I would have bought it and had myself another safe queen! Now you are going to have to find another one to shoot! That was my situation. I have a pre Md 39 from 1955/56 that is ANIB and unfired by me. I've had it for 30 years. And all this time never knowing the pleasure of shooting these wonderful guns. Well, not long ago I found one that was nice enough but not too nice. I bought it to shoot. I absolutely love it. I also have a 5906 but to tell you the truth, the single stack Md 39 just fits me better and the accuracy (even in my hands) is outstanding. And they are the most beautiful Smith semi ever made, IMO. Now go find a 3 or 4 hundred dollar Md 39 shooter

I'm like iceman. I have a 1976 circa 39-2 LNIB. It's a safe queen. I found another one and now have my Shield 9mm for sale. I think the 39-2 will be my primary carry piece. They really shoot nice.
