Appears to be a very nice 22lr pistol Model 2206 and the price is $450. Comes with box and papers and two mags. I don't know much about these and needed forum feedback on price. I'm thinking I'd like to have one of these but I don't know if the price is in the ball park. Thanks for your feedback. Here is a picture

The price seems high by between $50-100 to me. They are nice; if you get it, be sure to cinch down (Loctite?) the screw for the rear sight leaf, as it tends to loosen with slide movement and the sight assembly takes flight.

I hope Slidemuzik will be along to throw in on this, as he has guru status regarding the 422/622/2206 models and can give you a pretty good opinion on value.

Having watched some of these in the past couple of months for my own purposes, I venture to say that $450 is not an outrageous or even mildly high price for what you are getting, as long as condition is excellent. The sold prices on GB will show (including a very good comp from just a couple of days ago) that 6" 2206s like this one has been selling for north of $450 for awhile now.

If it is in a local shop and you can negotiate it, then anything you are able to get it for, less than $450, is going to be a good deal for you, IMHO. Good luck!

If you do get it, opaul, be sure to field strip and clean it well before shooting. (I know, this goes for all pistols.) Also, like many .22s, this one might prove a bit a bit picky on ammo. I suggest starting out with CCI Minimags, which seems to be the most consistently good shooting ammo, and which my 6" 622 VR loves. This will give you a true idea of function of your pistol. I started with a Federal Match bulk ammo (not jacketed) and had problems from the start, especially with FTEs. No problems at all with the CCI, though.

I too have been looking at the S&W .22's, and wondered how a 2206 compares to a M22A. Saw that PSA is running a special at $190 for that model, but as you usually get what you pay for, is a 2206 worth the add'l cost?

I'd agree with Vigil. Good condition, box, papers, and two mags? Sounds fair to me when looking at GB sales. What other .22 would you consider in that price range?

Re: 22a/s. There are many happy owners. Most report excellent accuracy. It replaced the 422/622/2206 series. I have read the 22 a/s are much cheaper to build and thus why they replaced them.

Whether a 422/622/2206 is worth that much more than a 22a/s is purely subjective and depends on what you are looking for. The 22a/s is built to accept optics where the 422/622/2206's are more difficult to mount optics because they weren't designed to accept them. If that's important to you, that is a major consideration. If it feels good in your hand, the accuracy should be there on the 22a/s to compete with anything costing twice that much. There is also the option of multiple barrels on the 22a/s. Swapping barrels is easy, and takedown is tool less and a breeze.

As a commodity, the 22a/s is not as valuable as a 422/622/2206. What they are worth to you is an entirely different question. The older guns represent old school thinking that I appreciate. Others prefer the newer design. I'd be happy to give you my opinion of which you might be happier with, given more info on what you're looking for.

Mine is very accurate with and with out the can. I bought it new when they first came out, mine has not really been finicky with ammo unless I get very lazy, and it gets too dirty, that could happen easy back when a brick was 7$ and I, my wife, nephews had time to shoot. 450 with 2 mags, box , excellent condition, that is the going rate. FWIW, I could never get my 22A to shoot half as accurately as my 2206 with any ammo. The former pistol is the only handgun I've ever gotten rid of.
