Default Holsters for older S&W semi autos.

I'm getting asked quite a bit about holsters for older S&W semi auto's. Enough that I'm starting to think about investing in something to mold from. (What an excuse to get past the wife to buy at least one more gun!)

Someone told me that one frame should be able to be used to make holsters for a few models.

My question... where should I start in picking up an older S&W to make holsters from?

The Beretta 92FS holsters fit the 4506 and 4506-1/1006 perfectly.

SIG P226 holsters fit the 4566, 4006 and 5906 pretty well. Although the 4006 and 5906 holsters are still easy to buy new.

I run all of my 4506's in a 92FS IWB or pancake.

I've got a Galco "B109T" (it could be 8109T) Cop Series CT5244B that handles all my 39's and 59's, including the ones with the "square" trigger guard. I've heard how difficult it is for find a holster for these models, but this one fits like a glove. Here's some pics:

The S&W 39 also fits in som Beretta 92 FS holsters (even though there is a difference in tricker guard). By the way I make my own holsters. Is this what you are aiming at?
