Default Kind of a no-brainer but...(3913LS)

So there have been bunch of 3rd Gens popping up since I found my 3913. Now there is a 3913 LS with box, padded case, and all the paperwork. Offered my Mini 14 Ranch w/scope and a 20 round mag. Since I know I can replace the Mini I figure this is a no brainer what say ye? BTW he was asking $550.

No, I wouldn't trade a mini for it, besides it has lady on the side. What was the name of the shop again?

I would make that trade in no time. Please post photos of it when you get it.

There is no bigger fan of the 3913/14 than me...my 3913LS is on me everyday..all day....but...you are right...the mini14 can be easily replaced..but not easily for $550....unless you can find a really motivated seller....but YOU are the only that has to be satisfied with that deal....good luck

If it's an older Mini with the skinny barrel and non factory 20 rd. mag yes.......if it's a newer one with the heavier barrel and factory mag.......then it's borderline on price/value

But I'm spoiled I've got a couple of the 3913LN ....Ladysmiths without the "Lady Smith" markings.

The mini is an older one with the pencil barrel and non-factory mag. He won't travel and I can't at the moment so looks like I miss out. C'est la vie. Maybe next time.

Too bad that Ruger would be going for about......$450 around here... and you could get a new/better one!

I completely understand....been there-done that....and Bam-Bam is right....when those older mini barrels get hot....they aren't exactly the most accurate rifles..........been there..done that too.... go get the 3913NL....then replace the mini with an AR or AK

Hmmm, given that I've been wanting a Mini Ranch - but in .308m (As yet, I just have not been able to get my head or hand around a .223 in a heavy woods hunting environment) - I will have to at least give it some thought. That is, if a 3913LS, NIB (with case), is acceptable. Of course, that Mini Ranch needs to be bee-uuu-ta-full, too.

Oops, gotta stop typing. Caused by this matter: thin wisp of smoke trail is now emanating from ears.

Think about a Ruger Mini in 7.62x39........or better yet look at a CZ 527 Carbine in the Soviet caliber.

Bam-Bam, as long as Vladimir The Great doesn't have a thing to do with the proceeds of a 7.62x39, why sure, I'd go for a .30 (give or take a hundredth or a tenth or so). They've served me well over the years and in many different ways.

And, seeing as this subject is being revisited: a serious brush-busting Ruger 77/44 would ring my chimes even better than a .30.

The only problem I have with the 7.62X39 is if the gov stops the importation of it then the cost will be sky high. Yes, that CZ 527 carbine is sweet .

Go make the trade as soon as travel permits. The guys are right, the newer Minis are MUCH to be favored over the older ones - if you just have to have a replacement Mini. But remember, ARs are VERY cheap right now. I would trample over a pile of Minis to get to a decent AR.

The 7.62x39 market may be a place where the Mini gets a leg up on the ARs. I have yet to see a single, decent AR mag in 7.62x39. On the other hand, the mags for the Mini-30 at least are well made and they work, even if they are outrageously expensive. My AR is 7.62x39 (Olympic brand) is accurate and seems to work well, but without magazines you have confidence in, it is a better doorstop than usable rifle. Maybe some day Magpul will make us some 7.62 Russian AR mags, but I doubt it.

You can do a lot worse than pick up one of the more recent versions of the Mini-30, IMO. As to the 3913NL/LS, it's a great gun. Good luck.

An optimistic way to look at it, but basically correct. Like pretty girls, there are lots of fish in the sea when it comes to 3rd-Gen S&W autos and another will come along. Be ready to pounce!

Another great one. You should have at least one of each, 3913 and 4513, so why not?

Uummm..that would give me two pre-rail 4513s .
That is if the gentleman is willing to deal . He's not looking for what I'd offer.
