very important update on the bodygaurd 380 with the insight laser
I just got off of the phone with smith & Wesson and they are going to replace my insight laser with a crimson trace laser for free. you simply send them the insight laser back to them then they ship the crimson trace laser to you. they also told me that it would fit fine in the older model bodyguard 380s.......just letting everyone know.............

Is there any practical differences in the laser?

So a quick search of the S&W website revealed no statements about this. Is it a general product notice/campaign, or just a new policy for any owners who happen to call and complain about their Insight lasers?

Bodyguard .380 laser replacement
I sent my broken Bodyguard .380 Insight laser back for replacement. I received a brand new Crimson Trace laser as a replacement. I didn't make any special requests or inquiries about the replacement laser. It is better in every way. First, the face of the laser has a slight plastic "rise" to it. It keeps the face of the laser from coming in contact with any surface. Second, the new buttons that come with it are firm and make the laser activation very easy. Third...it's Crimson Trace!

Just did the same thing today. Told them I had a problem and the CSR said mail it in and we'll send you a Crimson Trace laser to replace it. So off to the Post Office I went.

Got mine a while back. Make sure that that lil ole screw is in firmly. It can (mine did) back out and jam the slide. Pain min the butt to clear, Wound up sheering the head off. S&W sent a new one free.

An update one year later. I am now having the same issue with the CT laser that I had with the original Insight laser. Only one of the buttons activate it. Took it apart and inspected it but can't get the one button to activate. So, I will be calling CS to see what they recommend. Anyone know if the the green laser for the M&P version will fit the older non M&P? It activates from the front.

Just bought my wife a new BG for Christmas. Took it to the range and on the 2nd box of ammo it jams. She says she can't clear it. Neither could I. Long story short the lazer screw backed out and caught the slide! Bent the screw. Had to send it back to S&W already!!

I haven't heard about it with the new M&P Bodyguards.
I dont have a lazer, so no problems here.
