Early 3913TSW 7 Shot - LNIB - Considering Selling
Hi All,
I am the original owner of an early 3913TSW, 7+1, non-rail. It has been a safe queen and I have not shot or carried it. It is in the original box with all the paperwork exactly like it came when I purchased it. Basically a time capsule.
I am considering selling it, and wanted to see if there was any interest, and what I should expect to get for it.
Thanks in advance.

Hard to guess. You might sign into Gunbroker, go into advanced section and search on completed listings. Might have a hit or two. I'd certainly pay over $600, but others would pay somewhat more, I suspect.

The non rail 3913TSW's seem to be rising in price. I've been looking for one to complete my 3913 model collection. Realistic price should be in the $ 600.00 to $ 700.00 range but in today's market it might be higher.

They are going for crazy money on Gunbroker, one just went for a little over $1000 the other day......advertised as new-never fired.

just looked at the completed listings a very used pre rail with holster worn off decals went for 650 and a railed 3913 tsw went for 950 ish. Which I have never seen one go for that and it only had one bid making me wonder if it was a shell bid.
IMO a LNIB would go in the 1000-1200 range, but it is and will only go up so I would hold on to it.

I saw the 3913 on GB as well, and I think it ended up at @ $1200. Made me think real hard on pulling out my 3913TSW 7 rounder pre-rail, but nah...owning one is fun!

finally saw the ad and it said like new, not new. Yeah it went for almost 1300 dollars with 18 bids that is legit. I also looked at it and my 3913TSW has those same magazine bumpers on the bottom making me wonder if smith and wesson included both sets in the original kits when sold.Yeah it makes me think about selling but then I again, I like my gun better than the 1300. It starts getting to 2 grand or more then I will have to think about it. Great that gun buyers are putting that value on a great piece.

Keep in mind too that the OP says his has never been fired and is apparently in heirloom condition in an original box that's been in a safe. I have to think this package is as close as it gets to NIB, though photos would help determine that, and he could expect top dollar from someone who wants a truly pristine example of one of S&W's very best non-Performance Center semi-autos.
It's too bad that this pistol's value is such that it likely will never be shot, but that's to the seller's advantage, and anyone interested in buying it for what it is worth is not going to have a problem not shooting it.
IMHO, what the seller describes has theoretically even more value than the one that sold for almost $1,300 on GunBroker. At the same time, that price approaches those of rarer 9mm PC models like the Shorty 9 in similar condition, so as usual, GunBroker prices can at times be on the excessively high side. The right buyer at the right time, though, can make all the difference, as we have seen time and time again.
I know that if this were mine and I decided to sell it, it wouldn't leave my house for less than $1,200! And if someone protested that they could buy a Shorty 9 or 5906 PC 9 for that price, I would cheerfully invite them to go right ahead!

Additionally the decals look faded from the photos, here is mine and is an example of what someone would have seen in the original box when new.

Yeah, I looked at that as well. The gun has been fired, it may not have had the slide removed but where are the books (says he has then in ad)? Where is the warning label that is shipped on the inside of the box (original to a truly new piece)? Original warranty card? Where are the rest of the pieces, including the orange safety breach? if it is truly new in the box? Mine is in as good as or better condition plus I have all the original paperwork.
His description and photos are what resulted in the price not the package overall cause based on the photos he is missing some pieces. Here is an example of what a new package would have looked like when shipped from the factory. I also noticed that the decals on his appeared a little faded as well. Probably due to being in a display case or where a lot of light has been on it for an extended period of time. I have my doubts about this 3913tsw package if it was truly new in the box. That guy made his money though and they are hard to find.

This thread makes me glad that I got mine without box, papers, showing some carry wear, etc..., for $425.00 out the door a couple of years ago.
It's a nice shooting gun and easy to carry.

Good points, James. Hopefully we'll get to see some pictures of the one 82A1 has. The one on GunBroker that sold for nearly $1,300 might not even have been as good as what 82A1 has, and still attracted a bunch of bids (though it got down to just a couple of guys warring it out at the end, as usual!)

one with all the appropriate paper work and accessories went for 900 which is still a lot. Yeah, I think someone wanted it and got in a bidding war making it go for 200-300 more than they normally do.

That one also had the rail, too!

I saw that one too and it was worn, but go advanced, completed transactions, and search for Smith and Wesson 3913 no tsw or tactical and you will pull up a pre rail in good shape had some grip wear but was in otherwise good shape went for around 900ish.

What do you suppose a NIB would have cost you two years ago, Gary? I'm thinking $750 or so, just spitballin' from what I remember.
At any rate, $1,200 is a big jump in two years -- no doubt about it. And watching sales on GunBroker isn't always a reality check, except when you're the seller and you're getting the offers!
I like to think that all the love on here for the 3913TSW no-rail has contributed to that perception. The rising tide lifts all boats!

As I recall, the shop had this one listed at $475.00 or so. I was shocked (and delighted) that he dropped the price so much for a cash sale. It had only been in the shop a week or less when I spotted it.
I think that GB or other national forums increase the potential pool of buyers and might drive up costs.
For the record, I blame this forum for putting me on the look out for one of these.
Seriously though, it's a great personal defense gun. Just a touch bigger than the CS9, but much better finish quality.

yeah, that is a nice piece. If you need money then sell it. I would not go for anything less than 1200 or 1300 for it. Then again why sell something that you will not be able to replace easily?
Nice piece though.

From looking at the pictures, it seems that S&W included both styles of butt plate with the gun. I've seen them listed for sale with one style or the other, but never with both. I don't remember what mine came with, but I've swapped them over for the wedge shaped ones because I found that the finger extension grabbed my cover garment and risked exposing the firearm.

Well Gentlemen, what do you think? Welcome to 1998!
As was mentioned, the GB sale was $1290 + $35 for shipping.
I'll take $1200 + $35 for shipping to a FFL.
I do want to mention one thing about the paperwork. When I bought it, the dealer warned me I needed to send in the warranty card, so I did.
I still have the half you keep, I just didn't include it in the pictures, as I didn't want someone to think I had the complete card.
I have an extra magazine, and a Galco holster that is supposed to fit, still in the original bag. I will throw those in.

you realize this is a smith and wesson enthusiast forum. That one that particular one that sold for that amount at that time might not sell for that amount again. I am pretty sure you are not going to find that here but put it on GB or GA and be the next person to hit a new high for the 3913TSW. Maybe you could walk away with 1300-1400 or more for it. Like has been said someone got in a bidding war and did not want to lose the auction. That happens, there is no guarantee that it could happen again. Although I bet there are buyers out there that would give you that much for it.
good luck with the sell.

Sweet, 82A1. That's as good as it gets condition-wise, and I wish you well with your sale. I do agree with James that your best chance for maximum price will be on GunBroker (maybe GunAuction or Guns America, but not so much) especially since there are fresh buyers there who just missed out on the last 3913TSW that sold so high.
I'd hold out for $1,200 too if it were mine, as I would want to get the most I could for it if I had made the difficult decision to sell. I think you can get that much and more; just probably not here on the Forum, but who knows, you might.

3913TSW
As I had listed elsewhere on this site, here is my 3913TSW 7 rounder LNIB with all docs. Going to hold onto this for a bit, while I get used to its' brother, the 3953, taking daily walks with me.

You're Right! I have been looking to buy my first Gen 3, hopefully a 3913 but I have a few others on the list as well. I keep looking for the perfect gun at the perfect price and have passed on several deals. I want something to shoot and carry! Perfect post, Thanks!!

Wow! I wish I had never carried mine. I have a 3913 no rail TSW and box and such from 2001 or so that I have shot and carried. However this thread has me debating holding on to it or letting someone else enjoy it awhile.
