That pistol wouldn't by chance be a California State Parks pistol would it?
Most of the ones I've seen have the serial# prefix of VZE. Reading into the serial# tables in the Standard Catalog and using an educated guess it dates to about 1998-99ish. The Standard Catalog shows the serial# prefix of VHN starting in 1998 and we know the pistol was discontinued from the catalog in 1999, so there is my guess.
They are great pistols and built like a tank. It will give you years and years of great service even after it's previous LEO life. I bought mine new in 1990 just after they came out. Sadly I don't shoot it enough, but it still makes the odd trip to the range. Here's my rather selfish chance to show it off-again...
