M59 Except .45

Sounds like you are asking for a double-stack .45. If you want one of these AND made by S&W, it'll have to be plastic: M&P.

All the 2nd and 3rd Gen .45's that S&W ever made were single stack guns.

Now, if by "59" you meant a 2nd or 3rd Gen .45 in a "similar" physical size... try a 4516.

Outside of not being a double stack I think dimensionally and cosmetically it'd be a 4566. Though the 59 is a first gen and the 4566 is a third gen the appearance is similar...from a distance.....with bad vision.....in the dark. :D

Ok the last part is obviously a joke but I still think from a size perspective that's the closest match. They also operate the same way.

As already mentioned, the first generation model 59 had no 45 ACP counterpart.

It was not until the second generation (459/559/659) that S&W began offering a DA/SA 45 ACP duty gun, the model 645

The third generatio 5904/5905/5906 pistol had their 45 ACP counter parts in the 4504/4505/4506 family.

The 4516 mentioned above is a more compact (undercover/off duty) version with a shorter slide, shorter frame, bobbed hammer and less capacity.

I like my 4516 as a concealeable firearm. However if I were carrying openly or looking for a home defense firearm, the 4504/4505/4506 family would be my choice

I'm 6'8" and 320. I can conceal carry nearly any practical handgun.
I meant a .45 about the same size as the 59, need not be double stacked magazine with controls similar.
Thanks for the info.

Just having looked at photos I THINK I'd like either the 4504 or 4506. Hopefully I can handle one or both to see.
