Default Smith & Wesson Back on Duty

I retired from fulltime police work in 2014. Stayed off a year and went back part time. Started back with the Beretta 92A1 that I retired with. Nothing wrong with it, just noticed its getting heavy, or I'm getting old.

Came across a like new Smith & Wesson 4003 .40 today. Had Pachmayr grips on it. Don't like them. Called Brownell's and they still had factory grips for $20. Got a setoff them on the way.

Looks like the Beretta is going into retirement and the 4003 is taking it's place.

I did carry a S&W 4506 for many years on the job.

Anyone else carry a Smith on the job cause they want to?

Carried the S&W 6906 I built for years, and a CS9 for a short time prior to our department going to Glocks. The 6906 will still out-shoot both of the Glocks I own.

Retired earlier this year.

I retired last year, too, and used S&Ws exclusively for 35 years. I went through a few different revolvers and semis, all .38/.357 and 9mm. 64, 65, 66, 67, 681, 686, 28, I loved to trade and try something new! We went to semis in 1989 and I transitioned with a 669. Moved over to a 6906 until a 3913 was offered to me.
I just did my LEOSA qualification with the same 3" Model 65 and 3913 that I carried while active. They, of course, didn't let me down.
Man, I'd never go back. It's just not the same job any more, and getting even worse every day. Good luck and stay safe!!

I retired last month with my 20 in. I carried the 4506-1, 4566, 4516, 4513TSW and some 39XX series pistols.

My favorites were the 4506-1 and 4566. For plainclothes and off duty I preferred the 4513TSW. Nowemployed as a magistrate and I carry the 4513TSW every night. Fine pistols. Enjoy yours! Regards 18DAI
