Have a chance to buy a little SW model 410 .40 cal pistol. Looks to be in like new condition for less than $400. Not sure I know much about these so I thought I'd ask the pros. When were these made? What mags do they use, etc? Any help, advice will be appreciated... TW

The 410 is from the value line, similar to the 4003. I have the 457 which is a value line 45 caliber. Great guns though the refinement and fit tolerances are not as good as the regular series.

$400 is pretty high for a 410 in my opinion. For that price you should be able to get a really nice 4003 or 4006. I picked up a decent 4046 (DAO version of the 4006) for $230 on GB two weeks ago.

The 410 uses the same 11 round mags as the 4006.

This is the value line gun that replaced the 411. The 411 was machined very similar to the 4006 and would generally fit the same holsters.

The 410 came with two 10 round mags to satisfy the 1994 bill. The 410 didn't receive the same machining on the slide and doesn't fit molded 4006 holsters.

I have a 410, good shooter. May be worth $400 is some areas, but I don't think I'd pay that.

410

LGS had a very clean 410 2 mags no box on consignment at $465 or so. I looked it over several times not really needing it but it was a clean gun and I like all third gens. A few weeks later it was marked $379 so I was more interested and went back the next week..................gone. I envy those who always seem to live near gun shops that price guns so much lower but I figure shipping and transfer costs when buying local and figure I come out pretty much the same most times. Sounds like a nice gun you are looking at, if they will bargain any I say go for it.

As others have said..no frills/value line of S&W. Think the 411 was made 1993..then the 410 like in 1996? Could be off...

Solid shooter, just not as pretty as the non-value models...

I picked mine up..police trade-in..looked to be carried more than shot, came with box and 2 or 3 11 round mags..(10 and 11 round mags are interchangeable)...$375. Not the prettiest in the gun closet but it'll do the job. Getting use to the snap of the .40 is another story...

Lots of .40's to be had at that price, or less.

Be extra sure you really want that one.

A reliable gun, that is best for its utility.
