Default info on a 39-2 9 mill

i recently purchased a model 39-2 9 mill for my aunt. i basicly know most of its history, but would like to know if i can find out manufacture date, and a good place to get more clips as she requested them. thank you for any help. box says, model 39-2,fin b, barrel 4,ins 40, serial number 449983.

According to the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson, serial numbers A385001- A475000 were produced between 1977 -1978. Contact Smith and Wesson though and they could probably give your more information. I'd bet your box is plain blue with "Bangor Punta" embossed.

Round my way, 39 magazines are always available at my local gun store, but try gun broker also. Avoid aftermarket mags, I've found them nothing but troublesome.

You got a very nice gun for your aunt. There are lots of threads regarding the Md 39-2 with great info and pics. Do a Google and you will find several of them listed. As stated above, magazines are not difficult to find. Besides what is listed above by magnums276 you can also usually find them on Ebay or you could post a "Want to Buy" ad in the classifieds here on the forum.
