39-2
Am new to this forum--today--still from the old school so will try my best. Going thru my Smiths and will share a few goodies. Have a 39-2, ser# A147165, Unfired, new in the box. Has the extra magazine, brush & rod but no screw driver, think it never had one. What would the year of mfg be? A friend wanted to list it on GB but if I decide to sell I would rather pass on the o/o to a new owner. What in the forums group expertise would this 39-2 be worth. Have a couple K's too, a 17 (no digit) and a 14-1. Will post pics when I get things figured out and the appropriate place.
Hope pics show up, at my age you would know.

According to the book and GB, a NIB is going for around $500-$650. There are a lot of these guns out there right now. If you are looking to sell, I would try posting it here before going to GB. You will get a better price and actually be passing the classic firearm to someone who will appreciate it.

Those were very common guns in the 1970's. It was a little surprising to see a 9mm auto at that time. . .except for the Hi-Power and the WWII guns. Everybody bought one and most of them seem to have remained in their boxes with all the stuff. I've talked to people who actually bought 4 or 5 when they were new and put them up. They are great guns in the Walther P-38 style. I have a LNIB one in my collection. The problem is (unlike the Smith revolvers) nobody wants two.

Completed GB auctions show that it could bring as much as $1,000. And if you are really, really lucky and get two crazy rich guys in a grudge match bidding war, it could approach $2,000. Mama Mia!!!

Maybe not the most efficient, or effective, or glamorous, but in my humble opinion, in that configuration, that's the prettiest auto Smith produced.

I saw one the other day NIB, unfired with everything for $650 which I thought was a VERY fair price. Just don't need three!

I sold one just like it for $675 about 2 years ago. Maybe the market has gone soft since then, but $600 seems a little on the low side IMHO. If you do not need the cash, I'd put it out there for trade. You'd be surprised what someone might offer you that doesn't really NEED one, but might have a holy grail gun of yours that they need less.
