Only S&W/Roy Jinks has the ability to find features, ship date and shipping destination associated with the serial number. Sometimes, we can get "close" in production or shipped year with a serial number.
The S&W printed end-label on the pistol's original box will typically give us a hint to some of the features that particular pistol was shipped with.
In the case of the 422 semiauto .22LR chambered pistol, there aren't all that many "options" that I can recall. A 422 pistol is likely to have been made from 1987-1996, aluminum frame with a blued steel slide and had either a 4.5" or a 6" barrel and either fixed sights or adjustable sights. Most had black plastic grips, some had checkered walnut grips. Some early ones shipped with a 12-rd magazine, later guns all came with a 10-rd magazine.
