Default Alloy used in 3rd Generation Autos

Does anyone have specific insight in the specifics of the aluminum alloy used on the lower frame of 3rd Generation Autos?

Specifically, 6906, 3913, 5903, etc. I have a few beaters with signifignant wear and scratches. I have an offer from a local plating and coatings shop to do some custom anodizing work as long as I do the prep.

I need to know as much about the alloy and metallurgy as possible. Does anyone have any input? Thanks.

I believe that the specific alloy S&W uses is proprietary.

Without placing the sample in a scanning electron microscope and performing energy dispersive x-ray tests, obtaining the alloying elements is likely impossible. There are a number of threads on the refinishing of alloy frames at SIGforum.com --A discussion forum for SIG enthusiasts, and some cautions about prep work.
